Jeff had a combination of a great grin and eyes that showed a longing character that was otherwise unfamiliar to me in 8th grade.  We were friends for awhile back then.  He chose other friends in high school.  Last I saw him was very briefly at the 20th NTE reunion; I don't know about his life beyond high school.  I hope that whatever he did in life, that, along the way, he found someone or something he could trust.

Jeff was a close friend of mine through Skokie jr high and new trier. He had a passion for life with a dash of mischief we both enjoyed. I miss him.

Jeff Trux was a great fellow with an easy smile, a wonderful sense of humor and a highly developed sense of adventure. He was an instigator of a lot of good clean fun and laughs. Jeff's personality was sunny and inviting and he was a popular and gregarious friend who many people sought out for friendship.

A loyal friend who you could keep for many decades. Jeff's family was also an interesting bunch. His father was head of sales for Bang & Olufsen hi-fi in the USA and his sisters and brother were high adventurers themselves.

It was always a lively visit to go over to his house with his nice family.

Later Jeff battled Hodgkin's disease for many years. This disease was sometimes in remission and at other times it really rocked him. Throughout his ups and downs with it he remained with a sunny outlook. He wanted to talk about you and what YOU and your family and friends had been up to---it was never a question of woe is me or of  a down in the dumps outlook. Jeff remained philosophical about his medical challenges and continued to live and travel and explore.

One day in Fall 1999 I learned that he was gone. I had seen him that summer and although his energy was diminished, I could not tell from talking to him that his condition was worsening.

When we all gathered to celebrate Jeff's life, it was a wonderful remembrance with a wide swath of differing friends recalling how he had made a difference for them.

A fine fellow, well remembered and honored here.

It is so sad when people are taken away so young.  He's missed.

My enduring image of Trux'y was skateboarding through downtown Winnetka!

Rest easy!
