School Story:
I think of myself as one of the most fortunate people on the planet. I grew up in a village-Northfield, IL. For me it was idylic. The kids I grew up with at St. Philip the Apostle and Sunset Ridge do not get any better. As children we had Willow Park to play all type of sports and games. All the mom's in our town looked after everyone's children. It was really hard to get in trouble. New Trier West, was frostying on the cake. You were expected to excel, as well as care. A wonderful combination. I know as an adult, I have done both throughout my life. Everytime, I tried to get overly possessed with excel, memories of what it means to "care" would enter into my psyche. We did 30 mile walks for all kinds of causes, before it was "fashionable" to do so. As I said earlier, I will never foget the teachers who taught me how to think. Think about logic, poetry, math, writing, latin, sports, all kind of thinking. For all of this , I am eternally grateful and so fortunate.
